GLASS (Giving Love Acceptance Safety and Support) is the LGBTQ+ organization at UL Lafayette. During my senior year, I offered to give back to an organization that gave me so much and redo their outdated logo. I occasionally offer my services to them as a freelancer now that I’ve graduated and had the honor of creating their 2021 Drag Show poster.

The original logo was a nebula full of gradients and harsh lines that didn’t always print well with bulky text. I simplified everything and transformed the nebula into a comet of rainbows, among other colors. Almost every comet keeps the progressive flag in mind with the black/brown colors for queer POC except for the intersex comet, seen above. Each comet represents a different identity’s flag, and there are nearly 30 variations, including different backgrounds and text colors for the organization to use at their leisure for days of awareness. The logo is currently in use for prints on t-shirts, stickers, and sees regular use on their social media.

The 2021 Drag Show poster was based on a tarot card, specifically the Empress. Prominent features of the card includes a female symbol, which we switched to a trans symbol, and a queen sitting upon her throne. I included bright colors on dark backgrounds with gold accents for the card, inspired by the Marigold Tarot deck.
