Riot Fest is an annual festival in that takes place in the fall in Chicago, Illinois. It focuses in particular on punk, rock, metal, and hip-hop music. The following concept focuses on the collateral for Riot Fest after revamping the iconography to feel wilder and fitting the themes and associations for Riot Fest. The overall piece is the brochure provided that unfolds to be the poster for that year’s showing.
Font:
The font used for body copy throughout is FranklinGothic URW Comp. Headlines throughout the brochure are also FranklinGothic URW Comp but with a stroke instead of fill.
The cover of the brochure is Futura Condensed Extra Bold.
Logo:
The logo and iconography used is the open yelling mouth with the tongue piercing. It’s bold and unmistakably loud and fitting the of the riotous aesthetic. The typography of ‘Riot fest’ is hand drawn.
Color:
I focused on using high-energy colors throughout the branding and collateral. Plenty of reds and yellows, but to break it up i threw in equally energetic electric blues to provide contrast. I tried to keep black to a minimum since it’s so heavy and wanted lightweight colors.
